I’m interested in the materiality of the paint, especially the oil color. The material plasticity generates real existing spaces. Point by point, I apply the paint undiluted with the brush, impasto oil paint swabs one after another to pull them from the bottom of the canvas up to a height so that one peak rises next to the other.
I was asked again and again, what’s the name of the technique. How are the „peaks“ created? „Markéta’s technique“ I found too long, complicated and somehow presumptuous. Although the method of working is contemplative, I apply the color very energetically. So I called this kind of energetic form of painting „epeaks“- „e“ for energy and peaks for the tips. The results thus produced are primarily a challenge to dive into the colour as a veritable substance – this of course only in the spiritual sense.
The smoothness and the gloss of the oil paint fascinate me. With slow, smooth movements, I mix different colors to create new, shiny shades. Externally, many tones resemble each other, but internally, in their formation, they are completely different. Colors evoke associations. For certain colors, similar thoughts and emotions appear again and again. I see colors as powerful tools that influence our moods and our life energy.
